JAMES FITZELLA – DIRECTOR

James Fitzella serves as Government Affairs Director at Ferox Strategies, leading efforts on several of the firm’s clients, including those in the Homeland Security and Retail spaces, and on the Republican side of the aisle.

Throughout his career, James has developed a unique background in public policy and gained invaluable knowledge during his time on Capitol Hill and in the government affairs industry. He served on the influential House Rules Committee, the “traffic cop” for all significant legislation, for seven years where he worked up the ranks, ultimately serving as Senior Professional Staff. There, he developed a deep understanding of how bills are developed and procedurally moved through the House. Informing his expansive comprehension of legislative nuance and process, he worked collaboratively to direct the flow of major legislation and influence the adoption and exclusion of hundreds of amendments. James honed his ability to analyze issues from a multitude of angles and disciplines, cooperating with legislative champions from Agriculture, Appropriations, Energy and Commerce, Financial Services, Homeland Security, Natural Resources, Small Business, and Transportation and Infrastructure.

While he most recently served as a Senior Professional Staff Member for Ranking Member Tom Cole (R-OK), James also holds experience in the government affairs space, providing strategic expertise on issues running the gamut from healthcare to defense, food safety to foreign affairs, and telecommunications to Social Security.

As a native of Vienna, VA, James is an avid Washington sports fan and enjoys watching the Washington Capitals play. He attended the University of Mary Washington, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
