On March 23, President Trump reluctantly signed into law the FY 2018 omnibus averting a shutdown and keeping the federal government running through September 30, 2018. President Trump was very frustrated with the omnibus's failure to deliver $25 billion for his promised southern border wall and an immigration enforcement surge. Despite Trump's frustration, the omnibus delivered a $5.3 billion funding increase to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), including massive investments in border infrastructure, staffing at ports of entry, technology like non-intrusive inspection equipment (NII), and anti-opioid equipment.
